CNRS

Ika Paul-Pont is a CNRS Research Director at LEMAR (Laboratory of Marine Environmental Sciences). Specializing in ecotoxicology, she focuses on the effects of multiple stressors on coastal marine ecosystems, particularly the interactions between climate change, disease, and pollution. For the past decade, she has been developing research programs investigating the fate of plastic micro-debris at the land-sea interface, their role in the transfer of pathogenic and harmful species, and the assessment of their effects on marine organisms, alongside efforts to understand the mechanisms underlying their toxicity. This information is crucial for encouraging policymakers to implement concrete actions aimed at reducing plastic pollution.
